Every digital business card on MyInfo starts on the free plan, and plenty of people never need anything else. But some cards outgrow it: a stand at a trade show that should be collecting enquiries, a card you want to prove is actually being opened, or a card that should not be public at all. Here is how to tell which side you are on.
What the free plan already covers
The free plan is not a trial. It includes a full card with your photo, bio, contact details, links and social icons, a custom theme in your brand colours, and sharing by link, QR code and NFC tap. None of it expires or asks for payment details. If your card's only job is to let people save your contact and find your links, free is often enough for good.
Three signs you are ready for Premium
- You are losing enquiries. If people tell you things in person that you then forget to write down, lead capture puts an Exchange Contact button on your card so visitors send you their name, phone and email directly into a lead inbox you can export.
- You cannot tell if the card is working. A QR code on a poster or a stack of NFC cards at an event cannot report back on its own. Visit analytics shows total and unique visits over any date range, so you can see whether a placement or an event actually drove traffic.
- The card should not be fully public. Free cards are public by default. If you only want specific people to see it, private cards lock a card behind a six-digit access code that you control and can change at any time.
Who upgrades first
In practice, it is usually sales teams working a stand, real estate agents collecting enquiries from a viewing, clinics and studios taking appointment requests, and event organisers who need a follow-up list once the event is over. If your card's job stops at "let people reach me," none of this changes anything for you.
How the upgrade actually works
Premium is not a subscription toggled inside the app. It is unlocked with a licence PIN from a MyInfo partner, who can also supply PINs in bulk for a whole team. You then follow activate a licence PIN to apply it to one specific card. Plans are resolved per card, so upgrading one card never changes what any of your other cards can do, and see pricing for what each plan includes.
Still not sure?
Stay on the free plan. There is no clock running, so you lose nothing by waiting until you actually need lead capture, analytics or privacy, and you can create your card or activate a PIN later the moment you do. For the full breakdown of what is and is not included, see is MyInfo really free?
Frequently asked questions
If I upgrade one card, do my other cards become Premium too?
No. Every card resolves its own plan independently, so activating a licence PIN on one card has no effect on any other card in your account.
What happens if I stop needing Premium?
Nothing is deleted. If a licence PIN is not renewed, the card simply reverts to the free plan and keeps working; only Premium-only features like lead capture and analytics become unavailable until you activate a new PIN.
